BCPFFA Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial

Est. 2011

Every two years, members of the BC Professional Fire Fighters assemble on the south lawn of the BC Legislature in Victoria at the BC Fallen Fire Fighters Memorial to honour professional fire fighters who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Inclusive Remembrance: The memorial site is intended for use by all fire fighter associations—including volunteer, federal, industrial, and wildland groups. There are plaques at the base of the monument representing these various groups, and the site is available for any of these associations to host their own ceremonies to honour their fallen.

When called, fire fighters risk their lives to protect others; because the work is inherently dangerous, some do not return. On this day we pay the highest tribute to those brave women and men who ran toward danger and placed themselves in harm’s way.

The leadership of the BC Professional Fire Fighters will continue to advocate and lobby for best practices in occupational health and safety. Our goal is to prevent these tragic losses so families do not have to endure the pain of losing loved ones to hazards encountered on the job.
